Dos and Don'ts for Student Group Meetings

Access to school facilities for school and community groups can be troublesome and present awkward if not difficult situations. Learn the dos and don'ts to be sure to avoid liability under the Federal Equal Access Law and the First Amendment. Get answers to questions such as:

  • Should we ban a group because of substantially disruptive opposition?
  • Can we require groups not to discriminate?
  • Are there special rules for Boy Scouts?
  • When is access available, can it be limited to after school?

Three sessions will be held, each from 8:00 - 9:15 a.m.

Bangor - University of Maine, Orono - The Student Union Room, Room 316 - Wednesday May 18

Augusta - 45 Memorial Circle - Thursday, May 19

Portland - One City Center - Friday, May 20

RSVP by May 13 to Marnie Grumbach at 791-3224 or by email: mgrumbach@preti.com
