BIOGRAPHY
Michael A. Murphy practices with Preti Flaherty’s Litigation Group as a
Director in the Boston office. He focuses his practice on general liability,
medical liability defense, product liability defense and complex civil
litigation. Prior to joining Preti Flaherty, Michael practiced with a civil
trial firm in Boston, and as a founding member of Michael A. Murphy &
Associates, P.C.
Michael is a former Special Agent with Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI),
where he investigated and directed cases involving Racketeer Influenced Corrupt
Organizations (RICO), Foreign Counter Intelligence and Civil Rights.
REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS
Michael has handled matters such as:
- Won an 11 million jury verdict against the New England Mutual Life Insurance
Company and Towermarc, Inc. for specific performance on a major real estate
transaction.
- Michael has been retained by several medical malpractice insurers to defend
their physicians, staff and corporations in wrongful death and negligence
actions with a high level of success for his clients.
- Michael is counsel in Massachusetts and Rhode Island for the Bradford White
Corporation (BWC) which produces major household and commercial heating
products. He has successfully represented BWC and their wholly owned
subsidiaries in major products liability and high exposure property damages
matters.

defense attorneys that recommend useful and updated changes in practice before
the Court.
